St Mary Magdalene Church Stilton
We Need Your Help
St Mary Magdalene Church
is a grade II* listed building, parts of which date from the 13th century with many later adaptations, renovations and restorations. The Church has a regular congregation of some 30 to 40 people but it can seat about 100 people in the nave and a further 32 seats are available in the Choir Stalls and the Church Meeting Room (CMR) can accommodate a further 25 to 30 people.
Church Meeting Room
The CMR is available for private events and receptions after weddings and funerals.
The Church building is constantly in need of minor repairs; these are covered by a regular contractor who ensures that we keep the building in a good state of repair. However, the recent quinquennial report (inspection occurring once every five years or over a period of five years) highlighted a number of areas which are in urgent need of attention, including the Roof, both internal and external, the Louvered windows in the Tower and the Tower Roof. The total estimate is large and will be met by grants but we also need local help.
Events provide about 20% of our income but considerably more important is the pleasure it gives to local people. You can support you Church by joining in and attending any of these events and we promise you a good time.
We have a full programme of events for the forthcoming year. Please select the Events button for more details
